Kazi Aiman Udoy  The banking sector plays a crucial role in the economy, mobilizing and channeling savings for productive investment. The better it does so, the better the economy will perform in the long-run through more productive economic activities and diminished financial risk. The role is even more pronounced in developing countries like Bangladesh, where a mature capital market is needed and the banks are the main source of long-term finance.
A proper banking system guarantees appropriate use and proper allocation of resources. Easier access to capital by individuals and firms is required for undertaking various social and infrastructural projects, generating jobs, and accelerating productivity. The progress of the banking sector is a precondition for economic enhancement because of its important task of raising capital, savings and investments, as well as development in agriculture, industry and trade, and services.

Kazi Aiman Udoy  Shipbuilding is a potential industry for Bangladesh which is growing rapidly. Dating back to the early modern era, Bangladesh has a long history of shipbuilding. Moreover, when the locally made ships started exporting, it became a healthy, promising industry in our country. There are more than 200 shipbuilding companies in Bangladesh, mostly concentrated in Dhaka, Chittagong, Barisal, Khulna and Narayanganj.
Ships have been playing a crucial role in the trade affairs of the people of this country since the old times, because of the riverine geography of Bangladesh. As evident in the documents of 14th century Moroccan traveler Ibn Batuta, there used to be large fleets of warships docked in various ports of the country. The port city of Chittagong and Sandwip were manufacturing hubs of large ships during the mid-15th century, documented by a medieval European traveler, Caesar Frederick. During the Mughal period, the amount of shipbuilding swelled extensively. অমিত প্রামানিক  সোডিয়াম বাতির গান। এতটুকু বললেই মোটামুটি সবাই এখন চেনে ব্যাপারটা কি। আমি যখন প্রথম ক্যাম্পাসে আসি, ২০১৬ সালের জানুয়ারিতে, তখনো সোডিয়াম বাতির গান কেউ চেনে না। আমাদের বিতর্ক অঙ্গনের এক পরিচিত বড় ভাই, ইয়াসিন শাফি, আমাকে একদিন বললেন, ‘সোডিয়াম বাতির গান নামে একটা অনুষ্ঠান করব টিএসসি গেমস রুমে, থাইকো।’
তখন জীবনে অজস্র সময় এবং উত্তেজনা। ক্যাম্পাসের কোন অনুষ্ঠান মিস করার মানেই হয়না। সেইবার খুব ছোট্ট করে গেমস রুমে সোডিয়াম বাতির গানের প্রথম মৌসুমের প্রথম পর্ব হয়। খুব অল্প মানুষ। সবাই মোটামুটি ক্যাম্পাসেরই পরিচিত মানুষ। নিজেরা নিজেরাই টাকা উঠিয়ে সাউন্ড আর ব্যানার নিয়ে শো শুরু। অ্যাকুইস্টিক একটা গানের শো। হালকা আওয়াজ। টিকেট-ফিকেটের ঝামেলা নেই! আসবেন, হাঁটু গেড়ে মাটিতে বসবেন, কোন মঞ্চ নেই, একই সমতলে শ্রোতা ও আর্টিস্ট গলা মিলিয়ে গাইবেন! ভালো না লাগলে যেকোন সময় চলেও যেতে পারবেন। আমার খুব ভালো লাগলো পুরো আয়োজনটা। তারপর কীভাবে কীভাবে যেন এর আয়োজনের পেছনে জড়িয়ে গেলাম আস্তে আস্তে। |
