Mehernaz Mourin Mahjabin Rashid Lamisha Tanvir Ahmed Tasfiah Tasnim Raya Entrepreneurship is an important driver of the economy as it brings in unused capital, employs new labor and aims to make a profit in the long run. French economist Jean-Baptiste Say, in the early 19th century, described an entrepreneur as one who “shifts economic resources out of an area of lower and into an area of higher productivity and greater yield.” But a social entrepreneur should not be confused with any other entrepreneur as they function very differently. In the case of social entrepreneurship, individuals try to mark a social problem and address it by employing entrepreneurial principles, process and operations. Non-profit organizations and non-government organizations usually play the role of social entrepreneurs and work to improve the lives of people related to this cause. Acumen defines a social enterprise as “an enterprise that prioritizes transformative social impact while striving for financial sustainability.”

Readus Shalehen Zawad, Md Ahad Al Azad Munem, Md Rubayet AlamOn November 10th, the Nagorno-Karabakh war finally came to an end when Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to a Russia brokered peace resolution. Due to the ongoing pandemic and the US presidential election, the world may have seen it as an insignificant regional conflict. But for millions of Armenians and Azeris, this was the end to a historic war which forged their nations. The war and the subsequent peace deal will have lasting effects on the Caucasus and shape foreign policies of Russia, Iran and Turkey in the region for the foreseeable future.
Nagorno-Karabakh bears a bloody and violent history which dates back to the end of the first world war. Originally, the region was a part of the Russian Empire and was dominated by its Armenian majority. But in 1917, when the Empire collapsed, the three nations of the Caucasus (Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan) created the Transcaucasian Federation which lasted for three months. Border disputes between Armenia and Azerbaijan soon turned into the Armenian-Azerbaijani War in 1918. After two years of fighting, Armenia was emerging as the clear winner but the British intervened and insisted the disputes be settled at a peace conference. But this fragile peace predictably did not last. In retaliation for a failed Armenian rebellion, Azeri soldiers killed at least 500 civilians and destroyed the Armenian part of Shusha, the then capital of Nagorno Karabakh. Ifreet Saraf, Rakibul Mobin, Most. Rukaiah Begum, Mahbubur Rahman As of this moment, while we’re pretending everything is usual, the world is still dealing with a pandemic which can undoubtedly be considered as the greatest challenge humanity has faced in the 21st century. Starting from December 2019, COVID-19 has infected over 50 million people worldwide and caused a death toll of over 1 million. Much to our concern, lately both the infection rate and mortality rate of COVID-19 has started to increase, which is being referred to as the ‘Second Wave’ of pandemic. After infection and mortality cases started declining in some parts of the world back in August, it seemed to be the nosedive of the first wave of the pandemic. Schools started online classes to prevent community gathering. But businesses can’t be conducted entirely on online platforms as those require exchange of products. Moreover, larger businesses like import-export require physical proximity between consumers and producers and individuals’ crossing international borders. It is projected that Europe will go into full lockdown in a few weeks (many of the countries have already imposed partial lockdown to prevent the fatality of the second wave). European countries are quite significant destinations of the exportable products of Bangladesh. So, it seems the second wave of COVID-19 can affect the export sector of Bangladesh negatively.
Muntaha Masud Tanha “Pandemic” refers to a fatal communicable disease which causes “hierarchy of deaths” and severe economic detriment over a wide range of areas across the boundaries over a long period of time.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), “A pandemic is an epidemic of worldwide proportions; a global disease outbreak. It is determined by how the disease spreads, not how many deaths it causes”. This world has been facing several pandemics since its birth. Research shows that the world has experienced a pandemic in every 100 years. More or less, every pandemic has its own level of destruction. This level is somewhat contingent on the frequency of pandemic. So, whether the economy is in a V-shape or W-shape recession during the pandemic is to be decided by the waves of it.
Kazi Aiman Udoy Typically, I'm genuinely positive about the books I audit, yet here's one I truly disagreed with. Why have a few nations flourished and made incredible day to day environments for their residents, while others have not? This is a subject I care very much about, so as of late I was anxious to get a book on precisely this point.
Why Nations Fail: The Origins of Power, Prosperity, and Poverty is easy to read but difficult to peruse, with bunches of fascinating verifiable tales about various nations. It makes a contention that is urgently basic: nations with "inclusive" (as opposed to "extractive") political and monetary establishments are the ones that succeed and make due over the long haul. ESC Blog Editorial Team So far, 205 people in total have been arrested under the Digital Security Act in the country this year alone. This includes 53 journalists, 8 students (including a ninth-grader), 20 politicians, 5 teachers, 2 folk artists, 2 RMG workers, a doctor and a cartoonist. Journalists and members of the civil society show growing concern over the unjust and abusive implementation of the act that limits the rights to exercise freedom of speech granted to the citizens by the constitution.
