Economics Study Center (ESC) is delighted to successfully complete the first episode of "Talk Research". We want to thank Professor M M Akash, PhD for sharing his PhD thesis : "Impact of Modern Variety Rice Technology on Rural Factor Markets (Land and Labour) " in front of the students of Economics. The program was held on 14th February, 2016, at room no. 4045 (Arts building).
Talk Research is a new initiative taken by ESC. In this program series, renowned academicians and researchers of Economics both from our department and renowned organizations/institutions will share their research experiences with the students they had during their PhD/MPhil or any notable research work. To be noted, Dr Akash has tremendous experiences of working on policy research in Bangladesh. Here are some of the research works of him, 1) Has been engaged as a research consultant by UNDP in 2002 to review all its developmental projects in Bangladesh in order to find out the MACRO-MICRO linkages. 2) Has been engaged by the UNDP, New York, in 1999 to write a background paper for the HDR: 2000. 3) Has been engaged by the Metropolitan chamber of Commerce to write a research paper on the issue of TRANSIT. 4) Has been engaged in two research projects on Privatization in Bangladesh and The Problems of Governance in Bangladesh in the Center of Policy Dialogue (CPD), Dhaka, under the direction of Professor Rehman Sobhan, from 1996 to 1998. Special thanks goes to our honorable Chairperson Professor Nazma Begum, PhD for encouraging us by her presence.
