On the 5th of February, 2018 Economics Study Centre (ESC), along with Economics Carrier Alliance (ECA) and Economics Cultural Club (ECC) and with the support of South Asian Economic Network on Modelling (SANEM), organized a program titled as ‘Reflecting on SAESM 2018’. The aim of the program was to congratulate Team Bangladesh on their exemplary performance in this year’s SAESM and to hear the experiences of the participants, organizers and coordinators. Present in the program were Dr. Sayema Haque Bidisha, Associate Professor, Department of Economics, University of Dhaka and Mahtab Uddin, Lecturer, Department of Economics, University of Dhaka. Both of whom were also team coordinators of Team Bangladesh at SAESM 2018. Also present were, Dr. Selim Raihan, Professor, Department of Economics, University of Dhaka and Executive director, SANEM, Dr. Nazma Begum, former Chairperson, Department of Economics, University of Dhaka and Dr. M.M Akash, Professor, Department of economics, University of Dhaka and moderator of ESC. The program was attended by teachers and students from various departments and representatives from SANEM.The faculty members applauded the performance of team Bangladesh and also shared their views regarding the importance of participation at events like SAESM. They encouraged the students to participate in such events alongside their academic education. From the Bangladeshi participants, our very own, Wasik Sajid Khan, the team leader of Team Bangladesh and former President (2016-17), ESC and member of the champion quiz team, Semab Rahman, former general secretary (2016-17), ESC shared their experience of SAESM’18. According to them SAESM not only gives one the learning experience but also an opportunity to integrate with the South Asian community. The participants and the later three executive members of the each club, Sadman Shafiq (General secretary, ESC), Jannatul Ferdous (President, ECA) and Udoy Nafis (President, ECC) shared their views regarding the program and their intentions to have similar strong collaborations among the clubs in the years ahead.
