Research work help students develop critical thinking expertise, as well as effective analytical and communication skills that are globally sought-after and incredibly beneficial. Research is also essential to the economic and social development of our globalized society, forming the foundation for governmental policies around the world. To carry on with its aim to promote research and facilitate its undertaking Economics Study Center (ESC) organized a workshop titled as “Meet Young Researchers” on 29th March 2018 for the enthusiasts. Those present got the opportunity to know about the start-ups to research from some of the best dilletante researchers of the country. As speakers, the event hosted Nahian Bin Khaled, Tashfique Kazi, and Mustahsin Ul Aziz. Nahian Bin Khaled, associate field manager, Innovations for Poverty Actions (IPA), gave an overall idea of IPA, its workings and also shared his short yet amazing work experience with the crowd. He also discussed the hacks and tricks of getting into a research organization and becoming a capable researcher. Tashfique Kazi, research associate, Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), followed suit by giving a brief on CPD. He made some brilliant suggestions to the students on how to not only get into a renowned research organization but also to excel in the work. Later, Mustahsin Ul Aziz, Consultant, World Bank Bangladesh, motivated the audience with the amazing story of his journey to enrollment at the World Bank and counseled them on how to prepare themselves for getting into such international organizations. He suggested that the love for one’s work and perseverance are essential to good research work. All the speakers agreed on one common point that the advantages of research extend beyond having an impressive degree certificate. That Extra Curricular Activities, ancillary, practical and technical skills play a big part in being a proficient researcher.
